Yokohama mama

Saturday night was a Two-Set-Tony affair in Yokohama, a town a 40-min train ride out of Tokyo.

Our first gig was at the 'dragon club' and steve dressed up inappropriately for it – turns out he thought it was called the 'drag club'.

The dragon club had the best band room we'd ever seen – it was decked out with porn style couches that the boys had a cheeky snooze on while Craig and I went out to explore Yokohama.

We walked through a market and later stumbled across a little shop packed with junk – I guess a Japanese equivalent of an op shop. The old man in the shop had a close resemblance to Mr Miyagi.

The gig went off without a hitch, something we're getting used to here in Japan. The venues and banks alike are super professional and so far shows here run as smoother than Gartner's garrys.

Our second gig of the night was 'Reclash 32' at Jack Café Bassment, our closest thing to a plny 2am set in Japan.

Upon arrival we all got decked out in Fumi's 'What's up' t-shirts. Each shirt was a unique colour from a limited edition batch and Steve looked like a rudeboy in his spew green one.

The night sped by and after an amazing DJ set from Yusuke and countless ladies asking for Craig's number it was our turn to play.

Shit got hectic.

Anty was hanging from the roof and fell at some point.

Ning slept through our set but woke up briefly to throw an apple at Steve's guitar and break his strings.

Anty at that apple.

Steve was asked "are you pregnant with twins?".

An abundant amount of beer got poured on the floor, Anty's Korg, Craig's Bass etc.

Sound system went off and resulted in a massive stacks on.

The Japanese mafia rocked up and bought our C.D

After a great night we trained home at 7am in broad daylight, and Craig finally made it to his bed.

Sunday, bruddy Sunday

When asked to write a reminder of yesterday, four words came to mind:

Slippery, Eighty, Foreskin and Sensual.

Eighty:

Saturday night was crazy, and after about eighty seconds of sleep, the alarm (lightning's guts) woke me up for another round.

Our host family (Tim) looked as though he'd been out all night four nights in a row.

But, we dusted off and headed to Hatsurdai (Hat Saturday) for a real slice of Japanese punk.

Slippery:

A cutla beers down and we started to spark up again, just in time to be shown an absolute lesson in punk music.

The bands we were playing with kicked ass. Mohawks, beers, circle pits, wrestling matches and even babies were thrown into the mix, as we continued the slippery slope into drunkeness for another gig.

Playing our set was an absolute blast. The crew there got into party mode, and Kim from Doing Life getting up to sing Rudie Can't Fail with us.

Foreskin:

After the show we were treated to a Japanese end of tour tradition: A member of the bar staff dropped trou and got his foreskin out.

Thank you, we said.

A fitting way to end the Japan section of our trip, as once again the beeroo began to flow.

Double back-flip Steve also made a great cameo.

Sensual:

After much yap about going out for another boys night…. it was the silky, sensual flavours of ramen (Japanese pho) that pulled the pin on another fun night in Japan.

Boys-Night!!!

Watch a bunch of chicklettes!!! Not the Japanese babes but the Madonna boys. On Friday we spent the day sightseeing and shopping. Trying to counter act our girly day we went out for a cutla beers with the boys for boys night or as they like to say here "boyz night-tu." Needless to say things pretty loose on our night at Karaoke, when they are offering all you can drink until 5am we couldn't really squirm our way out of it. Sadly we weren't able to stay at karaoke until the finish time because Lightning got us all kicked out for asking the local girls filthy questions like "are you of age?"

To say the food here has been adequate would be stretching the truth so much. Craig has managed to eat a higher percentage of the food here than he would normally eat from a pizza menu. But we aren't here to stitch each other up (Lightning).

The gigs here have been fantastic, we keep forgetting that was the main reason for coming here. But those stories are for another time…….

Wobbies World @ Moonstep

Hey, Lightning here,

My turn to punch out a blog, hopefully it is more informative than Anty's first blog, a somewhat adventurous attempt at poetry..

The boys played their first gig last night at a place called Moonstep, the other bands were heaps better.. The Brasters, Crispy Nuts, Stray Bullets and Doing Life..

But who gives a shit about bands, the dosys here are so good!

I'd be very surprised if these four 'taken' boys remain abstinent in this dosy mecca.

Tonight is boys night, karaoke, butt sex and all you can drink with the Doing Life boys, no doubt we'll make a few bad decisions..

Anty was absolutely f'd last night, went to wobbys world, a lot of talk of a Flux-Capacitator, this morning..

Went to an area last night called, 'Robbongi'. The bar was rad as. They let us play any music we wanted and the place was just big enough to fit us and some other dude. That other dude was gross. I'm actually quite glad that Freya Peel wasn't around to see his filthy antics…. They were filthy.

After we'd been to the sweet as bar we walked down the street and got hassled by a bunch of dudes and a bunch of girls that looked like dudes. We went to the some bar, and the drinks were sexy, smooth and silky. At one point we saw the skinniest ladyboy, it was almost as if he/she was a stick figure guy.
